Accenture put an end to the sponsorship of Tiger Woods

Accenture was a major sponsor for Tiger Woods and after the blistering sex scandal the company decided that this is the end of a six-year partnership with the golf star basing on the following: “is no longer the right representative”.

The image of Tiger Woods was marred by a string of affairs with: a porn star, a cocktail waitress and other women, such as the sponsors pulled away from golf.

The Dublin-based technology said in a statement: “For the past six years, Accenture and Tiger Woods have had a very successful sponsorship arrangement and his achievements on the golf course have been a powerful metaphor for business success in Accenture’s advertising. However, given the circumstances of the last two weeks, after careful consideration and analysis, the company has determined that he is no longer the right representative for its advertising. Accenture said that it wishes only the best for Tiger Woods and his family”.

In the past, the company said: “Famous not only for his success on the golf course, Tiger Woods is equally renowned for his work ethic, focus and commitment to continual improvement”.

Accenture removed the picture with Tiger Woods from the website and said it would immediately transition to a new advertising campaign.

Also Razormaker Gillette announced that it would take Tiger Woods out of advertisements while he takes his break from golf: “As Tiger takes a break from the public eye, we will support his desire for privacy by limiting his role in our marketing programs”.

Another company, AT&T said in a statement: “We are presently evaluating our ongoing relationship with him”.

But the biggest sponsor, Nike said that will support him.  EA Sports released a statement declaring the relationship “unchanged”.
