Reggae singer Buju Banton was arrested on drug charge

Buju Banton, by his real name – Mark Anthony Myrie, it is now in a prison in Miami. He`s in custody since Thursday, the charges being: possess and the intent to distribute more than 5 kilograms of cocaine.

The Florida DEA spokesman, David Melenkevitz, told to the press: “Mr Myrie was arrested on a case based in Tampa. He is charged with intent to distribute cocaine, five kilos or more. Right now he’s in custody in South Florida and he’ll be transferred to Tampa”.

This isn`t the first problem that he had with the law. He also got caught in 2003 with marijuana plants at his recording studio.

In 1998, his track “Boom Bye Bye” start a lot of controversy through gays and lesbians. Because of the lyrics from the early part of his repertoire that advocated violence against gay.
