Ted Hughes and Sylvia Plath, the family of poets, had suffered a big tragedy on Monday when it was revealed that their children, Nicolas Hughes, has committed suicide. After Syliva gassed herself back in 1963, her son hanged himself at his home in Alaska.

Nicolas Hughes had been a marine biologist at the University of  Alaska Fairbanks, he had no children and he was unmarried.

Nicolas’s sister, Frieda Hughes which is also a poet, stated in The Times newspaper that she had to announce her brother death, “who died by his own hand on Monday March 16, 2009″ after battling depression.

Ted Hughes tried to shield his children after Plath’s death, although he was blamed for her suicide by some feminist groups because he left Sylvia for Assia Wevill. After six years Wevill also gassed herself and their daughter Shura. Ted Hughes died in 1998.
