What do you think off this officer?!
Dallas officer Robert Powell prevented Houston Texans running back Ryan Moats from seeing his dying mother-in-law last week and put Maritza Thomas, Zach Thomas’ wife which is the linebacker of the Cowboys, in jail for three hours after she made an illegal U-turn in July 2008.
He issued five tickets against Maritza Thomas, but four of them were dropped. She accepted the ticket for the illegal turn but not those for failure of showing proof of insurance, improper address on driver’s license, running a red light and a registration sticker that wasn’t on the windshield.
Brody Shanklin, Maritza Thomas’ attorney, stated for The Morning News that “unless extraordinary circumstances exist, no person should be arrested for a Class C citation”, while Powell’s attorney, Bob Gorsky, defended his client by saying “I do understand that an arrest on multiple traffic charges happens often and is absolutely proper under these circumstances.”
Powell issued an apology on Friday for pulling over Moats for running a red light, for 13 minutes, while he was on his way to the hospital. In which time his mother-in-law died.
