The jewelry line is called “The Barber’s Daughters” and Alicia Keys is in association with Canadian designer Gisele Theriault. The collection includes silver and gemstone pieces with quotes and poetry from iconic figures such as Gandhi, Buddha and Shakespeare. Gisele Theriault is really happy by regarding their colaboration, she said that “When it comes to creating, whatever the medium, around issues of the heart and living a life that aims to give back, we found a beautiful harmony with each other”.
The singer said to Reuters Television that she is a lyricist that loves words and loves things that hit you so hard to the heart.
“I realized that this was another way to reach out to people and to really bring them inspiration in some way. If people tell me how much they love my music because it’s gotten them though a certain time in their life, I felt like this was an extension of music.”
The pieces from the collection are priced from $85 to $2,500: necklaces and earrings, watches, cuffs and bracelets and is being sold through Collette Blanchard Gallery, a shop on Manhattan’s lower east side. There’s also a website where you can check out the new collection thebarbersdaughters.com.
Alicia Keys said “My favorite part about them was not only were they individual, one of a kind, something you would really cherish and hold but the words on them affected me so personally, they uplifted me, it made me feel good, want to hold it and wear it like a mantra”.
