Meredith Baxter said with pride that she is a lesbian

Actress Meredith Baxter, a star of the 1980′s sitcom “Family Ties”, said Wednesday that she is a lesbian as media published photos with her and a woman embracing.

Meredith Baxter is 62 years old and she discovered that she is lesbian seven years ago, after her third divorce. Baxter said she had the support of her five children when she told them the truth.

“I am a lesbian, and it was a later-in-life recognition. I got involved with someone I never expected to get involved with, and it was that kind of awakening. I had a great deal of difficulty connecting with men in relationships”.

Meredith had in the past an obsession – that the media will find out she is a lesbian so she was paranoid. At that time she have been saw with Nancy Locke, a building constructor so she tried to keep her relationship in secret trying to avoid scandal. Once she even asked Nancy to park her car farther away: “She said, ‘No’. I thought, ‘All right.’ I had to reach a level of comfort. It wasn’t fair to push her back into some kind of secrecy, and the nice thing is that we live very ‘out’ lives in Los Angeles”.
