The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences included “Avatar” and “2012″ and another 13 movies in the category for best visual effects consideration at the Oscars.

“Avatar,” “2012″ and “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen”, great movies with a high box office will compare with smaller movies, such as “Where the Wild Things Are”, “District 9″ and “Coraline”.
Other movies included in the category for best visual effects are: “Disney’s A Christmas Carol”, “G-Force”, “G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra”, “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince”, “Sherlock Holmes”, “Star Trek”, “Terminator Salvation” and “Watchmen”.
Those films were selected by the academy’s visual effects branch executive committee and finally they will select only three films for Oscar nominations and the awards will be presented on March 7.
