In “The Sing-Off” studio performed various artists, such as:

-          Nicole Scherzinger (from Pussycat Dolls) who sang along with Beelzebubs “You Don’t Own Me”

-          Boyz II Men, who performed various hits, including “End of the Road”

-          Smokey Robinson

-          Bobby McFerrin

The show was hosted by Nick Lachey, who seemed to be very happy with the final results.

The jury, including Shawn Stockman, looked very impressed and few of them ever squirt out some tears, saying “It’s just a blessing to have you up here on this stage” to the competitors.

Best actor was won by Tahar Rahim for his role in “Un Prophete” (“A Prophet”).

Also this time “Slumdog Millionaire”, which won most of the Oscars this year won the People’s Choice Award for Best European Film.

“No Puedo Vivir Sin Ti”  is a black-and-white movie working-class single father who struggles to retain custody of his daughter. To do this he takes on risky tasks on boats to earn money. It is based on a true story that conveys a quest of love that knows no bounds.

Taiwan Golden Horse Awards

The Taiwanese social drama won best original screenplay and outstanding Taiwanese film of the year at the 46th Golden Horse Awards.

Leon Dai, the man who directed produced, edited and wrote the screenplay, told reporters : “I especially want to thank this piece of land, Taiwan. It’s this land that nurtured this movie. And we have been working hard to use the nutrition we received to develop this land”.

Hong Kong actor Nick Cheung and his Chinese counterpart Huang Bo, both won the best actor competition.  Cheung played the role of a former boxer who takes a kidnapping job so he can care for his sick wife in “The Beast Stalker” and Huang played the role of a man in “Cow” who tries to protect a dairy cow from Japanese soldiers who wiped out his fellow villagers in 1940s China.

Huang said to the press:  “I still want to thank my baby — my big dairy cow. I will give you some good feed when I get back”.

The award best actress went to China’s Li Bingbing for the thriller  “The Message”:  “There were no easy scenes in this movie. If you wanted to take it easy or let your form slip in a scene in the movie, you didn’t have the chance to do so. This is a very serious movie. It doesn’t allow you any margin of error”.

Miss California Carrie Prejean should appear in Nashville at the 40th Dove Awards, according to the Gospel Music Channel. She does not sing gospel music, but she seems to be faith-based. Lately, she’s been extremely controversial both for winning the Miss California contest, but also due to Perez Hilton.

Carrie Prejean is currently dating Michael Phelps, according to some publications.

Prejean should present the show along with many gospel music artists, like Jonathan Nelson.

An year ago Miranda Lambert won the Album of the Year at the Academy of Country Music Awards, this year she only got a double nominee.

Lambert went directly to the casinos after she landed on the McCarran International Airport.  She said that spending time at the blackjack table frees the mind. Miranda played blackjack  before rehearsals, interviews or anything else.

McEntire said that she was proud of Carrie Underwood because she had won the the entertainer of the year award this year, because it is harder for a women to get the top trophies. “It’s always been that way and the women always overachieve, in my opinion”, she said.

In the history of 39-years of the ACM, only six women won the award. They were Loretta Lynn (1975), Dolly Parton (1977), Barbara Mandrell (1980), Reba McEntire (1994), Shania Twain (1999) and Dixie Chicks (2000).

The 44th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards was hold on Sunday. Trace Adkins performed live for the first time his new song “Til The Last Shot’s Fired”. “I’m doing it with the West Point Glee Club on television – and I may never do it again”, he said.

Lady Antebellum, Heidi Newfield, Jamey Johnson and others performed at the awards, which started at 8 p.m.

Adkins had been asked if he would like to perform his new song for the Wounded Warrior Project, to raise money. He accepted and he spent a few hours at West Point practicing with the glee club.

Trace Adkins debuted in 1996, but his career went to a higher level after he appeared on the first season of NBC’s “The Celebrity Apprentice.”
