Malawian court sources reported that Madonna could not be granted the adoption of the second Malawian child. Right groups accused both Madonna and Malawian authorities for granding her special treatment, so they were forced to refuse her request.

Her lawyer wasn’t available so we don’t know yet if she will try to appeal. Local human rights activists accused Madonna for child trafficking, while Malawian Information Minister Patricia Kiliati said that Madonna has been a worthy mother and helped the child that was in an awful condition.

Madonna has been in the Malawi court today and officials says the adoption has been delayed until friday. Madonna has spend about an hour in court today, but the doors were closed and she didn’t want to reveal more details about the appeal.

She only said the child’s name, Chifundo James, which translates as Mercy in English. We shall find out more on Friday.

Madonna is going to the Malawi court on Monday to seek permission to adopt her second child. She has also adopted the first one, David Banda, from Malawi in 2006.

The girl she wants to adopt is called Mercy James and is 4 years old. She’s only raised by her uncle who will sign the adoption agreement on Monday.
